Airwolf 3D provides local children’s museums with 3D-printed Pokeballs

Win 3D-printed Pokeballs at the Discovery Cube!

Are your kids walking around like zombies, clutching their smart phones, and obsessively playing Pokemon Go? How about giving them a safe way to play Pokemon Go while also learning about science? And they’d have a chance to win some really cool 3D-printed Pokeballs?

With Pokemon Go sweeping the nation, our friends at the Discovery Cube spotted a perfect opportunity for yet another fun way to educate kids through engaging, hands-on experiences. This Saturday, July 23, Discovery Cube OC and Discovery Cube LA will both be hosting Pokemon Go at the Cube.

Battle for 3D-printed Pokeballs!

This family-friendly event indulges Pokemon trainers of all ages with plenty of Pokemon-themed fun, including what surely will be some epic Discovery Cube Pokemon Gym battles with some very special prizes: 3D-printed Pokeballs.

Airwolf 3D is proud to once again partner with the Discovery Cube and serve the OC and LA areas by supporting a local educational event. We’re hard at work designing and 3D printing some unique Poke Ball trophies for the Discovery Cube’s winning Pokemon Gym Leaders. You won’t be able to buy these Poke Balls, they are fully crafted in-house and printed on our own Airwolf 3D printers right here in Costa Mesa, CA.

Teaching science with the help of a few Pokemon

In addition to plenty of Pokemon hunting (lures WILL be dropped!), the Discovery Cube will host a day of learning based on some of the elements associated with Pokemon types, such as electricity, water, and ice. When you arrive at the museum, simply pick up your “Pokepassport” and visit each learning station to enter to win a $50 gift card or a 3D printed Pokeball. Some of the activities include:

Zapdos from Pokemon Go• Pokeball 101. Put your Pokeball skills to the ultimate test to learn how trajectory and aiming can help you be the best trainer!

• Green screen. Take a green screen picture with the logo of either Team Instinct, Mystic, or Valor.

• Town Map Navigation. Learn how navigation has evolved and changed how people travel the world.

• Power Plant. Complete the snap circuit to “catch” Zapdos and learn about electricity

• Watch Pokemon the Movie. Movie times are 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Seating is first come, first serve.

• Pokemon Gym Battle. Bring your Pokemon to the virtual gym located in Dino Quest to battle it out for the title of Discovery Cube Pokemon Gym Leader! Winning leaders will be declared at 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m and will receive a $25 gift card and 3D-printed Pokeball! Participants must register the day of the event to be eligible to win.

The best part about this Pokemon Go meetup? In addition to giving the game an educational twist, this event gives kids a fun, safe place to play the wildly popular game. You know your kids will be spending a lot of time playing Pokemon Go this weekend. Bring them to the Cube and they just might learn something, too.

Bonus tip for fellow Pokemon geeks: There are at least three PokeStops outside the Discovery Cube OC and two inside the museum. Happy Hunting!
