The key to successful 3D prints is good quality material, and with Airwolf 3D’s new line of Platinum PLA filament, high quality is no exception. PLA is one of the most commonly used materials in 3D printing today.  It is biodegradable, easy to use, and provides great surface finish and print quality.  Good quality materials are key to successful printing.  The Platinum Series PLA for sale has been thoroughly tested by Airwolf 3D engineers and is ready to bring your creations to life on your Airwolf 3D printer.

What is PLA?

Polylactic acid is a thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch, tapioca roots, chips or starch, or sugarcane.(source: Wikipedia)

PLA is generally considered to be bio-degradable and has a pleasant odor. However, PLA is susceptible to temperature and therefore would not be ideal for a high temperature environment such as in contact with an extruder.

Traditional PLA like that shown at left can be printed without fans on an Airwolf printer. With fans, the surface quality can be significantly improved. Use 210-220C for the extrusion temp and 60-70C for the bed as well as blue painter’s tape.

PLA is a great material to print with in home as there are no harmful chemicals or vapors.  You can now make household objects that are truly 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly.  PLA is also great for printing very large parts, minimal shrink means no splitting on those long extra tall prints.  All around, PLA is a great material to add to your 3D printing arsenal.  You can find PLA for sale here.PLA for sale
